Costco Oshawa to be Opened in October

Oshawa - The largest warehouse club in North America, Costco, will open its doors to their card-carrying members later this year, likely in October, 2012.

The 27 acre location, at the intersection of Ritson Rd. N and Adelaide Ave. E will house a 146,000 sq. ft. retail store, a gas bar, and 635 parking spots.  

Previously, the land was occupied by General Motors with their north plant and most recently by ACSYS, an automobile parts supplier.  The building was demolished in 2005 and has been essentially a brickyard ever since.

Costco was founded in the state of Washington with their first warehouse opening in September, 1983 in Seattle.  Currently, Costco has 600 locations worlwide, including 82 locations in Canada.

There are 36 million households that are Costco members.  Current annual membership is $55.00/year.
